Banff Adventure Park is the perfect mix of nature and play. We've transformed natural mountain elements into a climbable playground, allowing generations of children to explore and connect with their surroundings.
Our Approach
Heavy and Sean Procyk were engaged by the Town of Banff to bring a world-class adventure playground to the town’s Recreation Grounds.
Mixing both custom and off-the-shelf components, the Banff Adventure Playground provides a wide variety of play experiences for people of all backgrounds.
The Opportunity
Over 4 million people visit the town of Banff annually - with 2023/24 recording a high of approximately 4.28 million visitors. While many are Canadian, a significant portion of visitors are from the US, Europe, and China. Heavy approached the design of this playground as an opportunity to educate visitors and residents alike on local symbols and flora synonymous with the Canadian Rockies.
There are a variety of unique playground features scattered throughout the grounds, including spruce-tip-inspired climbing structures and slides, an eagles nest, a zip-line, a series of swings, an observation tower and larger than life log climbing features.
The result is an impactful play experience that kids and kids-at-heart will want to return to time and time again.
