From lobby to must-see destination.
A challenge to conventional lobby art, meant to invoke modernism in a way that makes it truly the first of its kind.
The Opportunity
Artist Josephine Meckseper is well-known for her large-scale works that explore the language of modernism and commercialism. Meckseper engaged with Heavy to plan, build and install a series of public art installations at 10 York for Tridel.
The Approach
Meckseper’s concept required a high degree of fit and finish. The 10 York series of works include 4 unique mixed-media pieces that are installed both inside and outside the lobby of the building, combining lighting, steel, glass and fiberglass into one cohesive expression.
The 23’ x 15’ wall hanging interior centerpiece consists of 4 virtually seamless FRP quadrant modules, based off of a 3D scan of an aluminum maquette created by Meckseper.
